Athena Economou is a Senior Associate at Karatzas & Partners. She holds an LL.B. in Hellenic Law and an LL.M. in European Union Law from the University of Athens. She specializes in civil & commercial law with a particular focus on real estate law and also practices corporate law and civil litigation. Besides transactional work, she also has significant financing side experience, as well as expertise on privatization matters. Acting for domestic and international clients, her practice includes structuring and carrying out a wide range of real estate law and related M&A transactions, from private acquisitions to large-scale investments including construction projects and organization of sale tender processes. In this respect, she also advises clients on a wider array of real estate law issues (leases, real estate financing, collateral, court and enforcement proceedings, etc.). Athena has been ranked in the Legal 500 EMEA guide (2023, 2024) as a Rising Star for Real Estate and Construction practice in Greece.
