Biography
Anthimos brings more than 30 years of experience in the Financial Institutions sector, where he has held senior and C-level positions. As co-Founder of Hellenic Finance, he has been involved in all major Greek non-performing loans (NPLs) transactions. Through Hellenic Finance (HF), he provides investors with a pure play on Greek recovery through investing in Greek distressed assets, sold as part of the bank led reduction of NPLs. HF’s proposition aims to service NPL assets throughout the entire spectrum of their lifecycle, from NPLs to repossessed real estate collaterals (REOs) and then manage REO assets to exit through commercialization and sales.
In the past, Anthimos served as CEO of Piraeus Bank Group, where he transformed the bank into one of the leading banking institutions in the region. He has also worked for 14 years at National Bank of Greece (NBG), where he served as Deputy CEO, CFO/COO and CRO. He led the bank’s privatization, operational restructuring and international expansion, including at the time the $5.5bn acquisition of Finansbank in Turkey. Prior to NBG, was Partner at KPMG London and Athens in its Corporate Finance division.
Anthimos is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA institute) and a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW). He holds an MBA from the London Business School, an MSc in Information Engineering (Computer Science) from The City University and MEng in Electronics Engineering from the University of Patras.
